A Commitment to Caring
We are passionate about giving back to the community. We participate in several charitable events and community service activities throughout the year, including volunteering at a local food pantry. As a trained volunteer EMT for more than 15 years, Peter's service extended beyond Westchester County to Ground Zero in 2001.
Here are some of the causes near to our hearts:
Hillside Food Outreach
This local charity delivers food on a monthly basis to more than 2,000 housebound people living at or below the poverty level.
Leukemia & Lymphoma Society
The Unified Retirement Planning Group team supports the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. The firm’s donations go toward funding research for a cure for blood cancers.
Children's Heart Foundation
The Congenital Heart Walk series is the largest walk series solely dedicated to CHD research, uniting supporters of The Children’s Heart Foundation from around the country, to help fund CHD research that improves survival, longevity and quality of life for our community.
Children’s Heart Foundation
In the spirit of giving, Unified Retirement Planning Group accepted new and unwrapped toys, books and crafts for children ages newborn to 18 years for the Children's Heart Foundation Annual Toy Drive.
We are grateful for the amazing work of the Ossining Police Department and all the brave people on the front lines, especially during the Covid-19 crisis. We’re happy to show them our appreciation.
URPG Annual Track & Field Scholarship
Each year, Peter presents the annual URPG Track & Field Scholarship to a deserving female and male senior athlete at Briarcliff High School.
The Gullotta House
This organization aids residents of Westchester County who face financial or other hardships by providing food vouchers, scholarships to aid with the payment for education, outings and community entertainment events, and holiday assistance.
African Women's Education Fund
AWEF’s mission is to educate young women in Africa. Their members strongly believe the education of girls and women is a powerful way to counteract the cycle of poverty, ignorance, and violence.
Nashville Food Project
This organization works to alleviate hunger in the greater Nashville area by growing thousands of pounds of fresh organic produce, collecting donations of unused food, and distributing meals from its trucks to people in need.
International Society of Bassists Competition
In support of cultural activities and musicians, Unified Retirement Planning Group donated $1,000 to the "Scott R. Haigh Prize" for a worthy recipient at the International Society of Bassists competition.
Peter is on the board of directors of the Ossining Volunteer Ambulance Corps. The group is comprised of both volunteer and career members who provide emergency care 24 hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days a year.
The entire Unified Retirement Planning Group regularly gives back by volunteering their time every week to provide non-perishable food and pantry items to members of the community in-need.
In honor of American Heart Month and Congenital Heart Disease Week, Peter Gallagher and Becky Burfeind participated in a New York Blood Center blood drive at their church.
Peter has become active again with the Briarcliff Manor Volunteer Fire Department Ambulance Corps and will begin riding on emergency ambulance calls after work during the week.
